Honeywell will launch the World’s most powerful Quantum Computer soon

Yesterday, renowned US manufacturing and technology company Honeywell stated that they are going to bring “the world’s most powerful quantum computer” in the market soon that is aimed at tackling complex scientific and business challenges. The company said that it has achieved a breakthrough in quantum computing. The new technology will use subatomic particles to speed up processing. Honeywell is looking forward to launching their quantum computing technology-powered computer within the next three months.

Apart from this, the company also said that it has entered into partnerships with two quantum software and algorithm providers namely, Cambridge Quantum Computing and Zapata Computing in order to find new ways to deploy the quantum computing techniques more efficiently.

Honeywell chief executive Darius Adamczyk said, “Quantum computing will enable us to tackle complex scientific and business challenges, driving step-change improvements in computational power, operating costs and speed.”

He further said that “Materials companies will explore new molecular structures. Transportation companies will optimize logistics. Financial institutions will need faster and more precise software applications. Pharmaceutical companies will accelerate the discovery of new drugs. Honeywell is striving to influence how quantum computing evolves and to create opportunities for our customers to benefit from this powerful new technology.”

If you are unaware of what quantum computing is then you should note that this quantum computing uses quantum bits (qubits) that have the potential of performing about trillions of calculations per second. In some cases, it also beats the fastest of traditional supercomputers.

Honeywell also revealed that they have partnered with JPMorgan Chase in order to finance this project. Currently, Honeywell is also working with Microsoft to allow enterprise users to access Honeywell’s quantum computer through Microsoft’s cloud platform, Azure.

Tony Uttley, President of Honeywell Quantum Solutions said: “There are a number of industries that will be profoundly impacted by the advancement and ultimate application of at-scale quantum computing.”

Khan pointed out that Honeywell became an investor in the British-based firms “after a period of very close working cooperation.” He also added that “It may well be one of the technology world’s best-kept secrets for over a generation.”

Interestingly, this announcement from Honeywell came after last year Google claimed to have achieved “quantum supremacy” by developing a machine that outperforms supercomputers. Back then, Google said that its quantum technology solved a problem within 200 seconds which would have taken 10000 years on a normal computer.
